BOARD MEMBER TERESA HEMPHILL REFLECTS ON HER TRIP TO QUITO
My husband Clayton and I finally made it to Quito. Our son Parker has visited AyE three times, so we had some catching up to do. We quickly understood why the school has become such a special place in his life.
AyE is such a joyful space with colorful artwork on every wall, the smell of amazing food from the kitchen, and an unmistakable warmth. Our welcome sign below gives you an idea.
I had the privilege of speaking at the high school chapel, sharing from the book of Daniel. Clayon and I also met with seniors, and we realized that they were wrestling with the same questions that students in the States are asking: Will I get into the university I’m hoping for? How will I pay for my education? Will I be able to find work?
We prayed with them and felt so much hope for what God has in store for their futures.
We also attended a parent workshop where teachers stayed late so parents could gather for worship and hear teaching from Pancho and Pitty. The transparency and authenticity in that room moved us deeply. The Holy Spirit was evident, making a space for forgiveness and for parents to love each other well.
This community is a powerful light in the world today, and we can't wait to go back. We'd love for you to join us next time!
STORIES FROM THE SCHOOL
This past month, every student from pre-K through 12th grade spent an hour drawing what God's love means to them. The artwork filled the school with more creativity, beauty, and a remarkable display of God’s glory.
New clubs just launched at AyE, with students jumping into dancing, soccer, and taekwondo (led by their math teacher, who happens to be an expert). These clubs give students another way to discover new gifts and build deeper friendships.
BIG MOMENTS IN MARCH
Two groups are visiting AyE soon: Wesleyan School will be working alongside students, while Samford University will serve the teachers and staff. Please be praying for both groups as they travel this week and next.
On March 20th, AyE students will compete in the school's spelling bee. They've been working hard, and we can't wait to see them shine!
