APRIL HIGHLIGHTS

Amor y Esperanza held its spelling bee and math madness contests last month, with students showing off months of hard work.

Then came Sports Saturday, a morning where every grade chose a team name, animal, flag, and song. Students, parents, and teachers all played together. It was one of those days that remind you of the gift of Christ-centered community.

The first week of April also brought a day set apart for worship. The whole school gathered, including the parents of students. At one point, after a song ended, the room went completely silent. A young child, who is still learning to speak, stepped up to the microphone and began to pray. Everyone in the room felt the presence of the Lord from this one young child who showed tremendous faith and courage in Christ.

“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 18:3

A MIRACULOUS HEALING

Grace Perugachi, a beloved member of the AyE staff, has been battling cancer. For months, she was getting worse. Her daughters, an 8th-grader and a 10th-grader at the school, were praying hard, but the worry on their faces was impossible to miss. The AyE community never stopped praying and never stopped declaring a miracle.

A week ago, Grace called with news. She had just received the results of a critical exam, the one that would determine her cancer type. The doctors found nothing. The cancer was gone.

Her daughters were called immediately. Tears, laughter, rejoicing. This past Saturday at church, Grace stood up and gave her testimony. The same woman who couldn't get out of bed just days before was standing in front of her community to declare what God had done. There wasn't a dry eye in the room.

We serve a God who heals. And He is still doing miracles in Quito.
